What we collect

We create a random device identifier the first time you open the site and store it in your browser. It is how we recognise your account across visits. We do not ask for your name or phone number.

You may optionally add an email address so you can recover your account after clearing your browser or switching devices. If you do, we store that address and the date you verified it. If you do not, we hold no email address for you. This is the only way an account can be linked to a personal identifier.

We store what you read (which chapter you reached in each book), the books you save to your library, your daily check-in record, your coin balance and the history of coin changes, which chapters you have unlocked, your display name, and your subscription and order records.

Unless you opt out, we collect the page, book, search, checkout and confirmed-purchase events needed to measure an advertising campaign. These events may include campaign parameters and advertising click identifiers from the landing URL, content and order identifiers, purchase value and currency, IP address, browser information, and advertising cookies. We do not send payment-card details or the text you read.

Our servers keep standard technical logs, which include IP address and browser type, for security and troubleshooting.

What we do not collect

We never see or store your payment card details. Payments are handled entirely by PayPal; we only receive a subscription identifier and whether the payment succeeded.

We do not collect your contacts, precise GPS location, photos or files.

How we use it

To let you keep reading where you left off, to work out which chapters you are entitled to read, and to process subscriptions and coin purchases.

Unless you opt out, Google Tag Manager loads our measurement configuration and Stape processes events through our server-side tagging endpoint. We then share relevant conversion events with Meta and AppLovin (Axon) so they can attribute purchases, report campaign performance, prevent duplicate conversions and improve ad delivery.

We do not sell your personal data. Advertising measurement is on by default and you can opt out at any time through the Privacy choices link in the footer. Opting out stops the measurement container from loading and does not affect reading or payments.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings. Deletion removes everything listed above — device identifier, any email address you added, reading progress, saved books, check-in record, coin balance and history, unlock records, and subscription and order records. It cannot be undone and your coins and remaining membership time are lost.

Technical logs are kept separately for security and are not deleted by this action; they age out on their own schedule.

Advertising providers keep data under their own retention and deletion policies. Deleting your Story Huei account does not automatically delete data already processed by Google, Stape, Meta or AppLovin.

If you have an active subscription you must cancel it before deleting, so that you are not charged again after your data is gone.

Clearing your browser storage without deleting your account will make you lose access to that account, because the device identifier is what identifies you.
